Work where it matters
The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) leads the management of the Basin’s water resources in collaboration with partner governments and the community. Achieving a healthy, working Basin is a big job – we need influential and passionate ‘leaders of the future’ to do it.
The Basin is the catchment for the Murray and Darling rivers and their many tributaries. The Murray is Australia’s most iconic river system with a long history of management and development.
2013 will herald an exciting phase as we implement the Basin Plan. The Plan will guide the management of water resources across the Basin.
Working collaboratively with partners and governments, MDBA also manages and is involved in:
- joint natural resource management programs
- operation of the River Murray system
- water-sharing between states
- construction, operation and maintenance of structures such as dams, weirs, fishways and salt interception schemes
- natural resource management programs, such as The Living Murray and the Basin Salinity Management Strategy.
