Hi
So I got a graduate job (thanks for all the help) with a large accounting firm. And now I need to go get a new wardrobe of work clothes. I am wondering if I should be basically buying all suits and collared shirts or if things just need to look professional. Also the first week is training so should I dress more casually or wear the same sort of things I wore to my job interview?
Thankyou!

Hi
Congrats! That’s great news! I can presume that you had some form of interaction with the staff (be it through interviews or any other assessment)? What the recruiter/interviewer was wearing should give you a bit of insight into the type of clothes you will be required to wear.
The fact that it is a large accounting firm does yell out suits and corporate wear so my guess would be to get a couple of nice suits, and if you’re a bit short on cash; one suit, some extra suit jackets and more plain shirts so you can pull off different outfits without having an entirely new suit for each. I certainly think you should go corporate on your first day as it’s always better to be slightly overdressed than under. The first day will allow you to notice what everyone else is wearing and you can then amend your wardrobe accordingly!
Hope that helps! When do you start?
Cheers Pat
