Hi Sina
This is a really hard time for grads because you're taking a big step and launching into your career. I think it's really important to look at all your options and really think about what aligns with your future aspirations.
I think it's important to ensure that the company you choose to start your career with has a good reputation but more importantly can offer you the guidance and development early on in your career. I think it's also important more than anything else that you feel comfortable with the people you will be working with and believe you will enjoy going to work every day. There’s nothing worse than accepting a role in a company because it is big and has a great reputation but then waking up every morning and dreading going to work because you don't enjoy it there. I think you should take your time and try to get a good understanding of the environment and culture you'll be working in before you make a decision.
I know that some of our biggest competitors when it comes to grad recruitment aren't actually engineering companies but large accounting firms and banks. Engineers have the best analytical skills and because of this can be very successful in the business world and not necessarily in engineering. This is where you will need to decide what it is about engineering you enjoy most. Is it the actual design or is it the numbers and problem solving. That will then help you decide what is the best way for you to go. Neither option is wrong you just need to do what you enjoy best and if that's what you are doing then your future will be full of success.
At PB we have taken on quite a few grads with mechatronic degrees over the last couple of years. Unfortunately you need to decide between Electrical and mechanical as these are the areas you will work in. We don't actually do mechatronic work per se; unfortunately we don’t get to play with robots :)

Hi Paul
Sorry I misunderstood your second question. If you have written papers or participate in industry forums or blogs ten these are definitely great things to include in your application. I would encourage you to include these in your resume either via links or references so we can then look them up.
I wish you all the best with your job search and hope something comes through with Patience. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Nicole,
I am anshul,a student of UTS. I am BE Mechanical . I have done masters in engineering management from UTS. I am interested to join PB next year as a graduate mechanical engineer. My area of interest is designing. I have sound knowledge of pro-engineer , Catia, ansys Autocad etc. I always have a question in my mind....wat exactly employer want in our resume. Although I am BE Mechanical engineer, but in Australia i have worked in Coles and done few admin jobs. My question is for graduate positions, would you consider customer service experience or we need to have a field experience??????

Hi Anshul
We consider any experience, whilst industry experience is a good thing you still learn many of the same skills if not more skills from roles in customer service and admin. A major skill you require to be successful in the consulting field is customer service and understanding and being to relate with customers. If we have people working for us who don't have these skills we would then not be able to win work. This is great experience to have and i encourage you to include it in your resume.
