Hi Ernst & Young,

Can you explain a little about day to day life in the office? Do you have social clubs to make friends and play team sports outside of work? I would also like to know if you help any charities?

I know of other companies that do this - do you?

Thanks!

Hi Ladies! I know that Ernst & Young are one of the Big 4 in the Accounting world. Can you tell me what sets you apart from the others? What will attract me to apply for your graduate program?

That's a good question Ellie!
All of the Big 4 are established, respectable, professional firms with different cultures and attributes.

If you are deciding which one you wish to join, my recommendation would be to speak to staff from each, find out what they believe makes their Companies different.
For ourselves, we are particularly proud of the supportive culture at EY. You'll find people are keen to answer your questions in a positive way and offer help however and whenever they can - which is great when you're a graduate making the transition from University to working!

There are lots of other reasons I can give which would take up most of this forum! But my advice would be to speak to one of our staff and those at other companies at a Careers event to find out more.

Hi there,

I'm a Computer Science / IT graduate and I studied in Canberra. Can you tell me which states you have IT roles in as I'd love to relocate?

Also, what type of IT work would I undertake if successful with EY?

Thanks,
Isla.

Sure thing!
We have a one day process at Ernst & Young, which is made up of two one on one interviews, a group assessment and two ability tests; numeric reasoning and verbal reasoning.
Its good to have to all over and done with quickly, and you will hear back from us very soon after the recruitment day.
Cheers,
Hayley

Hi Courtney

Thanks for your message.

Whichever service line you work in at Ernst & Young, you'll find an environment of collaboration and support; a culture where you’ll be comfortable seeking the help of others throughout your development, with the opportunity to gain new perspectives, knowledge and ideas. Everyone at Ernst & Young sits in open plan which encourages open communication and allows you to create strong relationships with your colleagues.

A typical day at Ernst & Young varies, one day you could be out working at a clients site, the next attending a personal Learning and Development day.

The Sydney Ernst & Young office has a gym on-site and most recently the gym organised a 4 week bootcamp which I participated in. The bootcamp was a great way for myself to meet people from all the different service lines. The gym offers its members a wide range of different classes that you can particpate in another way to meet new people. There are also other opportunities for you to get invloved in team sports such soccer, netball and touch football.

The Ernst & Young Foundation was formed in 2004 to provide a focused approach to our commitment and involvement in the community, and to contribute to the social issues Ernst & Young people care most about. We offer support and work with charities to provide practical and effective assistance through financial giving, volunteering, pro-bono professional services and mentoring. Each employee has the opportunity to get involved with their charity of choice. For example next week I'm attending an Ernst & Young Foundation meeting on the opportunity for myself to become involved in a young adult mentoring program.

Hi Ellle

Yes of course, we are looking for well rounded candidates, not robots! We have an area on the application form which requires you to list your extra curricular activities and we encourage you to list everything you get involved in, eg sport, charities, volunteering and hobbies.
We understand our employees have a life outside of work and we would like to know more about you and how you juggle your time.
All the best :)

i am very confident in my abilities and i have had 17 years experience in china, but i have one major concern. every program i have looked at demands "excellent communication skills". i believe i can satisfy every other criterion and even in this area i think i am adequate and improving. if it was a uni subject i think i would get a C or D. but not a HD. my gpa will exceed 6.5 this mid year finals. how do you think this will play in my application

Hi,

We certainly look for strong communication skills but having said that we have people from all around the world with different accents working for Ernst & Young (including myself :-). When you submit your application, ensure you use the spell check and try to relax during the interview.

Good luck with your application!
