Sorry, as a last note... I'm interested in an internship/temporary work in my final year, is there a possibility of working with Accenture this year on a limited basis (part time)?

A good point that Joanne has mentioned here. A grad candidate's cover letter and CV combination is very important and we know that uni's often don't tell students what the best practices are. Find out more about these topics in the unigrad student resource center. See also the unigrad CV builder that walks you through creating your first CV.

Hi Daniel
I am an honours student in economics. I have a couple questions for you:
(1) What type of work do economics graduates undertake within Accenture?
(2) Your website says that the grade requirement is a credit average (65%). How do you guys sort the hundreds of applicants, is it higher preference for those with greater grades.
The reason I ask the sorting question is, really, we would all like to say the right thing to at least secure a phone call from Accenture.
Cheers Sri

We do have internship but these are not part time.
The reason for this is you will be working on clients projects that are fairly complex in nature. You would be at a disadvantage to the rest of the project team if you aren't around full time.
We do have P/T employees but they tend to have built up a depth of knowledge that allows them to work on that basis

Hi Sri
(1) Economics graduates undertake a wide variety of work at Accenture and this is only limited by your ability to learn new skills. Not only do we have students from this background in Management Consulting but as our training is so in depth they are also in our Technology Consulting business as well.
(2) Grades are only one thing we look at, we also consider extra curricular activities and work experience as part of the mix as well. We look for well rounded high performers that want to work at Accenture.

Just made a start to my CV using the unigrad CV tool mentioned and it seems good. This brings me onto my question. Daniel how much should you tailor your CV for a job. Should I tweak my CV for every job that I apply for or is that where the cover letter comes in. For example if I applied for two jobs as Accenture would it look better to submit two different CVs or the same one twice?

Hi Matty Unless you have a huge range of skills and experience that would warrant different versions of your CV, I would stick to one that shows the complete picture.
I do recommend making sure your application is focused on the organisation you are applying for. The amount of applications I see aimed at other companies "I am really keen to join XX Company" makes you wonder if anyone checks their application before sending.
