Hi!

Why should I choose to apply with NAB? I am currently studying HR and there are a lot of different companies out there. I like the look of NAB but I'm not sure of the benefits? Do you know how many exams I will have to sit to become fully qualified?

Thanks

Hi NAB

I am graduating at the end of this year with a Bachelor of Business (Management) and a Bachelor of Information Systems from the University of Tasmania. I am also a valued customer of NAB - hence why I am interested in taking up a graduate programme within your organisation.

I am yet to do much research in what you offer, but would there be any graduate programmes relating to both my degree's I am studying?

Cheers

Julian

Hi bobma7ley,

Great question!

The NAB Graduate Program is an 18 month rotational program designed to give you an understanding of all aspects of our business and to provide you with a range of opportunities for a successful career at NAB.

Our program offers special Learning and Development days, a dedicated Graduate Management team to support your on-going development, a senior leader to mentor you and offer career guidance, and a Graduate Buddy who’ll give you support right throughout your journey. Plus there are regular networking events, plus plenty of opportunities for you to play a role in the Graduate Community.

There are many great opportunities for HR students. A support specialty stream in People & Culture (HR) provides you with experience by rotating through areas such as Workplace Relations, Diversity, Performance and Reward, Recruitment, Organisational Capability, Talent Management and The Academy.

We offer a range of employee benefits including discounted financial products and services. However we're also committed to a balance of work and personal commitments. From flexible working to support and assistance with all health and wellbeing matters. Plus additional Work/ Lifestyle benefits offering significant discounts. For further information visit the Employee Benefits section of our website http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...ct/nab/Careers/home/1/1/

To be eligible to apply for the program you must have completed your degree in the past 3 years (bachelor’s degree or master’s degree). Or be currently undertaking your degree for completion by January 2012. Therefore all university exams must be completed by this date.

You can also check out our graduate careers website http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...ct/nab/Careers/home/3/3/ and hear from past grads and their journey.

Hi ?

I'm graduating from a business degree and wanted to move into a sales role within one of the big Australian banks. Do NAB offer good opportunities to grads.

Do NAB offer anything that might make me opt for one of their grad jobs over an equivalent one at another bank.

Thanks is advance, Matt

Hi Julian,

Great to hear you’re a fellow customer and interested in finding out more about the NAB Graduate Program.

At NAB we accept applications from a wide range of disciplines.

Our 18 month program offers four rotations, that give you experience within the specialty stream of your choice, plus exposure to another stream and also a customer-facing based initiative. With your background a number of our specialty streams would be suitable. I’d recommend looking into our Domestic Banking stream which incorporates Business Banking or Personal Banking. To tap into your IT background our Technology stream or Operations stream might suit you.

To find out more about the program streams it would be worthwhile visiting our website - http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...nab/Careers/home/3/3/1/.

Also remember when you apply you have the opportunity to select your top 3 stream preferences.

Hope to receive your application.

Thanks,
Lauren

Hi Lauren,

I have stated my application for the NAB Graduate Program and I am currently at the point of choosing my top 3 stream choices.

While I have found plenty of information about the Operations Stream I was wondering if you could provide me with a little more information on the Generalist Stream?

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Matt,

Definitely, if you’re passionate about sales and customer service I’d recommend looking into our Domestic Banking Stream which incorporates Personal Banking or Business Banking. For more info on this stream visit our website http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...rs/home/3/3/1/#domestic

The great thing about the NAB Program is that it’s designed to give you a deep understanding of all aspects of our business and to show you the many career opportunities open to you. You’ll experience four rotations that give you experience within the specialty stream of your choice, plus exposure to another stream and also a customer-facing based initiative. We also have a really robust leaning and development program that sits along side.

You can also check out our graduate careers website http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...t/nab/Careers/home/3/3/ and hear from past grads and their journey.

Cheers,
Lauren

Hi Lauren,

Can you give me some insight into questions asked in an interview? Do you use the STAR technique (which I've heard about from other employers?) when you are interviewing? Can you give any advice on what to wear to an interview?

Thanks for all your help!!

Hi Doug,

Great to hear you’re close to applying for the Program.

The Generalist stream is suitable for Graduates that are passionate about a career with NAB, however do not know exactly what area to specialise in. Through our Generalist stream you’ll have exposure to a variety of different areas, including key projects and both commercial and strategic based roles. We’ll work closely with our graduates to source suitable rotations based on your interests and degree background.

If you’re still unsure as to what stream to apply for and would like some assistance please contact our grad team directly on 03 8634 0006 or email graduate_careers@nab.com.au and we’d be happy to offer some further guidance.

All the best,
Lauren

Hi Jenna,

NAB uses Behavioural Event interviews (BEI’s) as the final stage of the recruitment process.

You’ll be asked about your past experiences, especially how you acted in certain situations and what the outcomes were. You can provide examples from work or uni / life situations. I’d recommend practicing BEI interviews with someone using either the CAR or STAR methods.

CAR:
Context, Action, Result

STAR:
Situation, Task, Action, Result

You can find out more information about Behavioural Event Interview questions on the graduate careers website - http://www.nab.com.au/wps/wcm/c...nab/Careers/home/3/3/3/

In relation to dress code it’s a good idea to dress in keeping with the type of organisation. The dress code at NAB is most commonly professional/corporate attire.

Good luck and hope to see you at the interviews.

Cheers,
Lauren

hi again lauren
i am very confident in my abilities and i have had 17 years experience in china, but i have one major concern. every program i have looked at demands "excellent communication skills". i believe i can satisfy every other criterion and even in this area i think i am adequate and improving. if it was a uni subject i think i would get a C or D. but not a HD. my gpa will exceed 6.5 this mid year finals. how do you think this will play in my application
