I've just finished a gap year and am back in Australia. It's not as hot as I remember!
I graduated in mathematics last year and have spent the last 8 months traveling. Would Meltwater consider me for one of their grad programs?
Iam drawn to the Accelerated Promotion Program that Meltwater advertises. Can you explain a little bit more about this, as working at the MD level would be amazing experience!
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve
Welcome back to Australia!
We would definitely be interested in considering your application. We are currently advertising for our Sydney vacancies, for which we'll interview on 11 & 12 April, and our Brisbane and Melbourne offices will recruit in June/July.
The objective of our roles is to develop our future managers and leaders. All employees start in our sales and business development division, which not only gives our grads a practical exposure to business and how it's conducted, but also gives them a good understanding of what Meltwater needs to do in order to expand. You'll find that you'll develop very useful transferrable skills in this role, such as the art of negotiation, solid relationship building skills, and adaptability.
Once you've mastered this role, we will look to promote you to a sales management role, where you're responsible for training and developing new staff members. This is your first official role in Meltwater management, and will see you assume a little more responsibility for the success of the office.
From here, your possibilities are varied. You can aim to move overseas and help us establish operations in newer markets, or you can choose to remain in Australia and do the same domestically. You can move laterally into one of our growing HR/finance/recruitment/communications teams, or you can transfer into our client relations team and handle long-term account management.
The benefit of working for Meltwater is that we're not your usual rotational program, which means that as soon as you're ready for your next challenge we will endeavour to find one for you! Most people are given their first managerial role within their first 12 months, and from there it may be another 8 months before they take their next step up.
