Hi Miguel,

I have completed a degree in Communications and am currently looking to apply for various grad programs. Can you explain the DSTO interview process, should I make it through. Thanks :)

Hi Tina,

Thanks for your question.

After an initial assessment of written applications and shortlisting, interviews generally take place on the site where the position is located (and may involve a brief tour of the facility). Interviews are predominantly behavioural question based, but may also involve a written or technical activity. If you are deemed to be "appointable" your referees will be contacted.

For a more detailed view of our selection process, please visit http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/grads/.

All the best and good luck!

Hi Yash,

Thanks for your question

DSTO offers Summer Vacation Scholarships and Industry Experience Placements to University students who meet the respective programs’ eligibility requirements (see http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/careers/page/3990/ and http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/careers/page/343/).

Graduate recruitment at DSTO is unlike other organisations’ “graduate programs”. Rather than offering a fixed-term internship or rotation based program, DSTO recruits graduates to fill ongoing graduate-level positions. In relation to mechanical engineering opportunities, DSTO works on a broad range of projects including Navy Platforms, Weapon Systems, and Aircraft structures.

Hi Yash,

As you have finished your degree, if you are successful in receiving a position through graduate recruitment, you may be able to commence working earlier than next year (if there is a requirement for this from the area).

Another avenue that you may wish to pursue is general recruitment at DSTO (i.e. non graduate recruitment). You can view the vacancies here http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/careers/.

Unfortunately, DSTO does not accept unsolicited applications; therefore you would have to apply for graduate recruitment or a specific non-graduate recruitment vacancy.

Ps. please see my previous response in relation to scholarships and industry experience placements.

Cheers

Miguel

Please monitior the SVS website http://www.dsto.defence.gov.au/careers/page/3990/ for application details.
