Hi,

I have D average, LLB and BSc with a first, have publications in A-star academic journals in law but didn't do a clerkship.I will be admitted in December.

I was too depressed to apply for graduate jobs- who didn't even look to at grads who without clerkships anyway

Now I can't get a job in private industry and refuse to work for the public service.

Should I:

a) Borrow a shotgun and suck on the pointy end?
b) Purchase a handgun and point it at the back of my head (it's harder to do that with a shotgun)?
c) Pretend I have a terminal illness, go to exit international and get some Nembutal from Mexico?
d) Rob a bank so I can purchase about 3 ounces of coke, snort it all at once and die happy?

ALL I WANT IS A MEANINGFUL JOB IN LAW

Any thoughts about the most painless way to end this hell?

Advice is much appreciated.

Hi mate,

Sorry for the delayed response.

I'd definitely suggest not doing any of the options you've provided. What I would suggest is to not give up. Clerkships, as you're well aware, do form a big part of recruitment in the law industry and that puts you in a bit of a tough space despite all the other brilliant goals you've achieved. SInce you haven't applied for graduate jobs, my recommendation would be to approach smaller to medium law firms for work experience - from what I've seen these are likely to take you on board for a couple of months and provided you perform well (which is no doubt with your record) will take you on long term.

From your post, it appears that you are not being as proactive as you may have been in the past (please correct me if I'm wrong) - you've got to make sure you stay on top and find any opportunities to get your foot in the door.

Keep me updated on how you are going.

hi, it seems like you are really exhausted in life. i can say one thing that never give up never say die. there are so many people in the word who is struggling in a worse situation than you. there are so many ways to make life meaningful. escaping is never a option.
