In this policy, ”Unimail”, "us", "we" or "our" means Unimail Pty Ltd ACN 091 085 148 and its officers, employees, agents or assigns from time to time, and related bodies corporate.
This policy sets out how Unimail collects, holds and discloses information about you.
We may, from time to time, review and update this policy.
What information we collect
In general, the personal information we collect about you may include (but is not limited to) your name, contact details (including phone numbers and addresses), your age and nationality, and your curriculum vitae and/or resume from time to time, details of your education including courses studied and educational institutions that you have attended, academic results obtained at educational institutions, professional qualifications and professional associations or memberships, career objectives and desires and similar related information to all of the above.
We also collect information about you that is not personal information. For example, we may collect data relating to your activity on our websites (including IP addresses) via tracking technologies such as cookies, or we may collect information from you in response to a survey. We may use this information to report statistics, analyse trends, administer our services, diagnose problems and monitor the quality of our products and services.
We advise that you do not publish or communicate personal information, or at least limit the personal information that you publish or communicate, to the public via our services, such as in our forums or blogs (Non-Confidential Information). You acknowledge however that, if you provide us with your curriculum vitae / resume, and professional or qualifications related information, we will provide it to third parties, if you opt in to this specific service. You acknowledge that we cannot control any third party collection or use of your Non-Confidential Information. You agree that we may use and disclose Non-Confidential Information for any purpose and by any means whatsoever.
Collecting information about you
We may collect your personal information from many different sources, including from you, your use of our website service, advertisers, mailing lists, recruitment agencies, contractors and business partners.
We may collect your personal information when you use or access our website service, request or acquire a product or service from us, register with us as a member, provide a product or service to us, complete a survey or questionnaire, enter a competition or event, participate in our services (including our website blogs and forums) or when you communicate with us by e-mail, telephone or in writing or other means.
If, at any time, you provide personal or other information about someone other than yourself, you warrant that you have that person’s consent to provide such information for the purpose specified. You fully and completely indemnify us in relation to any claims, suits losses or demands that arise of or incidental to the provision of such information. Why we collect information about you
We collect information about you to provide you with products and services you have requested. In addition to the purposes outlined above, we may use the personal information we collect, and you consent to us using your personal information, for reasons which include the following:
- to electronically store or otherwise copy your curriculum vitae and/or resume, and related documentation such as academic transcripts that you supply, and to publish it and provide it to interested third parties, when you agree with us that we may do so and opt in to these services accordingly. These services may be provided on our website and you will be bound by the terms and conditions of use of our website;
- to provide you with information about our products and services, and opportunities, which may be associated with or provided by third parties, that we think you may be interested in;
- for purposes necessary or incidental to the provision of goods and services to you;
- to communicate with you, including by email, mail or telephone;
- to verify your identity;
- to investigate any complaints about or made by you, or if we have reason to suspect that you are in breach of any of our terms and conditions or that you are or have been otherwise engaged in any unlawful activity; and/or
- as required or permitted by any law (including the Privacy Act).
How we disclose information about you
We may disclose personal information, and you consent to us disclosing your personal information, to third parties:
- who may be interested in receiving your curriculum vitae/resume;
- engaged by us to perform functions or provide products and services on our behalf, such as marketing, research and advertising;
- that are our agents, business partners or joint venture entities or partners;
- that sponsor or promote any competition that we conduct or promote via our services;
- authorised by you to receive information held by us;
- as part of any investigation into you or your activities, for example, if we have reason to suspect that you have committed a breach of any of our terms and conditions, or have otherwise been engaged in any unlawful activity, and we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary to the Police, any relevant authority or enforcement body, or your Internet Service Provider or network administrator;
- as part of a sale (or proposed sale) of all or part of our business; and/or
- as required or permitted by any law (including the Privacy Act).
Your curriculum vitae / resume
‘Public Resumes’: As part of the online job service, Unimail provides registered members with the option of creating a curriculum vitae / resume for supply to Unimail, and clients of Unimail, and also to third parties.
You may choose to allow Unimail clients or third parties to view your resume when you opt in to this service on our website or otherwise notify us of your acceptance.
You will then make your online resume ‘Public’. Selecting this option means your resume will be available for viewing by employers and / or recruiters or other third parties who pay to access Unimail’s resume database. Though all efforts are taken so that access is given only to those who have requested it via Unimail, we cannot guarantee that other parties will not without our consent gain access to this database.
Even if you do not opt in to this curriculum vitae / resume service, we will be providing interested third parties with information concerning the university you are attending, or have attended, the degree you are studying or have studied and the year that you plan to graduate or did graduate in, and you acknowledge this and consent to disclosure accordingly by us.
Unimail gives you the option of you also providing sensitive information relating to your professional associations and memberships, however it is not mandatory to provide this in order to use Unimail services. By providing these details in your resume, you are consenting to have this information passed onto third parties.
‘Private Resumes’: Unimail provides the option of you creating a resume and providing us with a copy, which we may store electronically, but making it private. Your resume will not be made available to third parties, unless you consent to it being made so available. If you consent, it will then become a ‘Public’ resume.
Your academic transcripts
You may elect to give us a copy of your academic transcripts, which may be uploaded onto our website. As part of this process, you may elect to make your academic transcripts available to, and reviewable by, other third parties of your choice. You warrant that the contents of any academic transcripts you so provide are complete and accurate in every respect and you indemnify us if they are not.
Management and security of communications and information about you
We do not provide any warranty or guarantee as to the security of communications sent by electronic means or by post. You acknowledge that the security of online transactions and the security of communications sent by electronic means or by post cannot be guaranteed. You provide information to us via the internet or by post at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for misuse or loss of, or unauthorised access to, your personal information where the security of information is not within our control.
You acknowledge that we are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of any third party (including third parties that we are permitted to disclose your personal information to in accordance with this policy or any applicable laws). The collection and use of your information by such third party/ies may be subject to separate privacy and security policies.
If you suspect any misuse or loss of, or unauthorised access to, your personal information, please let us know immediately.We cannot accept responsibility for misuse or loss of, or unauthorised access to, your personal information.
Accessing and updating your information
Subject to some exceptions in the Privacy Act, you have the right to access and update the personal information we hold about you. If you make an access request, we will ask you to verify your identity. We may charge a fee to cover the costs of meeting your request.
Members of our websites will generally be able to access and update their membership details online.
